SIDLOSIN-4

Category:

Silodosin 4 mg Capsules – Silodosin belongs to the group of medicines called selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonists. It is indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia in men. Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland in men. Symptoms of Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) may include difficulty in urination, urinary frequency and an inability to complete bladder emptying.

Silodosin blocks the alpha-1 adrenoreceptors present in tissues of the human prostate and bladder and relax the smooth muscle in these tissues, resulting in improvement of symptoms of BPH. The side effect that occurs most commonly while taking this medicine is an orgasm with reduced or no semen. This side effect is reversible with the discontinuation of the product. Silodosin can cause postural hypotension, with or without dizziness, so do not drive, operate machinery, or perform any hazardous tasks while taking this medicine if you feel so.

Always take this medicine as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Do not take this medicine if you are suffering from any kidney disease or liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your medical condition and response to treatment. To get the most benefit, try taking this medication regularly with the same meal each day.

How to use Silodosin Capsule

Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually once daily with a meal.

If you have difficulty swallowing this medication whole, you may sprinkle the entire contents of a capsule on a small amount (such as a tablespoon) of cool soft applesauce just before taking. Swallow the mixture right away (within 5 minutes). Do not chew the mixture, and do not save it for future use. Do not use hot applesauce. Drink a glass of cool water after each dose.

Silodosin may cause a sudden drop in your blood pressure, which could lead to dizziness or fainting. This risk is higher when you first start taking this drug, after your doctor increases your dose, or if you restart treatment after you stop taking it. During these times, avoid situations where you may be injured if you faint.

To avoid injury from dizziness or fainting, your doctor may tell you to take your first dose of silodosin with food at bedtime so that your body can get used to its effects.
